Wine tour to Alentejo with wine and olive oil tasting: See vineyards, cork oaks, olive trees and animals in the wild from Lisbon
We know that, at least at the time of the Roman Empire, the culture of wine and vines was already part of the habits and traditions of the populations that inhabited the territory that is now Alentejo.
We invite you to put your 5 senses to the test. Find in this authentic experience the undeniable beauty, knowledge and flavours of one of the most surprising regions of Portugal, Alentejo!
Known for being one of the best wine tourism destinations in Portugal, on this tour we propose an encounter with excellent Alentejo wine, the unique landscape made of undulating and green fields, cork oaks, olive trees and a walnut orchard.
Located in the demarcated region of Alentejo, Herdade de Coelheiros extends over approximately 800ha, including 600ha of cork oak forests, 50ha of vineyards in selected plots, 40ha of walnut orchard and a vast area of sheep, deer and fallow graze freely.
The richness of its biodiversity also includes a part of olive groves, dams and some animals such as ducks, hares and rabbits in the wild.
In this Experience, it’s possible to visit about 250ha of the estate, where you will witness the different cultures. It includes the possibility (no promises) of seeing the deer and wild fallow deer and ending with a wine tasting accompanied by the nuts and olive oil that are produced on the family estate.
Go through the estate in a jeep on a guided tour lasting about 2 hours and end at the winery where, in addition, you will taste excellent wines, olive oil, walnuts and Alentejo bread.
Discover the grape varieties and the entire process that involves planting and harvesting the grapes, from the production of the wine and its maturation in barrels to the bottling stage.
WINE TASTING COELHEIROS I is included in this authentic Experience:
Coelheiros White × Coelheiros Red
Tapada de Coelheiros White × Tapada de Coelheiros Red
Travel between attractions is carried out in a Mercedes-Benz minivan. The visit to Herdade de Coelheiros is made by jeep with a guided tour of the estate's specialized guide.
Wine producer since 1887, and, since 1991, reference in the production of Alentejo wines, Herdade de Coelheiros is today a vibrant project that aims to be a model of sustainability and excellence in the Alentejo region, taking advantage of its unique biodiversity.
"Roasted Goat in Our Wood Oven"
Alentejo gastronomy is an explosion of smells and flavors that proves the hospitality of its people. Time to taste some of the many typical Alentejo dishes.
The Arraiolos stitch imposes itself as the guiding thread of this incredible experience. The bottle labels and the Herdade brand represent the traditional tapestry of Arraiolos, an art cherished and promoted by Dona Leonilde Silveira, who owned an arts and crafts workshop. Who was Dona Leonilde? You'll know on the guided tour.
Go to the Village of Arraiolos and meet the main character of this Alentejo village: the famous Arraiolos Rug.
Visit the friendly Village of Arraiolos, whose foundation dates back to the 2nd century BC, known worldwide for the artisanal production of the famous Arraiolos Rugs.
Surprise yourself with the monumentality of its medieval castle, stroll through the historic center, visit the Arraiolos Rug Interpretive Center and interact with the local embroiderers observing the gestures that have been repeated for more than 500 years.
Discover the Arraiolos Rug Interpretive Center, whose visit will provide knowledge of the origin, history, methods and manufacturing techniques of the Arraiolos Rug.
The Arraiolos Rug Interpretive Center seeks to raise awareness of the origins and influences of the Arraiolos Rug, its artisanal production process, techniques and materials used, as well as to present the evolutionary profile of the Arraiolos Rug over the centuries.
Castle of Arraiolos. Its construction began in the year 1306 (14th century). From the medieval castle you can enjoy the immensity and beauty of the surrounding landscape, allowing a distinct view of the historic center of the village. It stands out for being one of the rare castles with circular plants in the world.
